Don Dreesen

Don Dreesen graduated from Wayne State College in 1970 with a BAE in education, majoring in political science and history.   He taught school at Holy Trinity Jr. High in Hartington, Nebraska for one year and then entered the U.S. Army for three years, serving in Korea and Germany.  After leaving the Army in 1974, he taught at St. Edward High School for two years while selling real estate part time.

In 1976 he began selling real estate full time as a salesman with Austin Realty Co. and in 1978 he received his brokers' license.  In 1977 Austin-Campbell Realty Co. purchased the Century 21 franchise and he was with Century 21 for 24 years before joining Dick Wallick Realty & Auction.  While with Century 21, he received the Centurion Award annually for 11 years; the Masters Diamond Club Award in 1992 and 1993; the Masters Hall of Fame Award in 1994, 1995 and 1996; and the Masters Hall of Fame Award in 2000 for receiving the Centurion award annually for 11 years.

Don has also earned the Graduate Realtors Institute and Certified Residential Specialist ratings in the real estate field.

He has been a member of the Columbus Board of Realtors, the Nebraska REALTORS Association and the National Association of Realtors for 27 years.  He has served on various committees for the Columbus Board of Realtors and in 1985 served as President.  In 1992 he was awarded Realtor of the Year by the Columbus Board of Realtors.

Don is in his second elected term on the Columbus City Schools Board of Education and is currently serving as its President.  He has served on the Transportation Committee of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce for 12 years and served as its chairman for two years.  He coached Little League baseball for 4 years and is in his15th year coaching girls softball with the Columbus Softball Association.   He is a member of St. Isidore's Catholic Church.

Don and his wife, Kathy, are the parents of five children.  Michelle is married and is an attorney in Omaha, Nebraska; Michael is a computer engineer with Hewlett- Packard in Fort Collins, Colorado; Megan is a senior at the University of Nebraska; Molly will be a freshman at the University of Nebraska; and Morgan will be a freshman at Columbus High School.

In his spare time Don likes to work on antique automobiles and enjoys reading history books.
